The high-performance materials stainless steel 321 and 321H are widely used in threaded fittings because of their superior resistance to high temperatures and general durability. Due to their membership in the austenitic stainless steel family, both alloys are appropriate for use in challenging conditions. A stable grade of stainless steel that is mainly alloyed with titanium is called stainless steel 321. Its resistance to intergranular corrosion is improved by this addition, especially between 800°F and 1500°F (427°C and 816°C) in temperature. Because of this, 321 stainless steel is especially well suited for high-temperature applications in the automotive and aerospace industries.
321H is a high-carbon version of 321 stainless steel. At higher temperatures, 321H's enhanced carbon content improves creep resistance and strength. This makes it perfect for usage in harsher environments where the material is stressed and exposed to high temperatures for extended periods of time.
