Flanges made of stainless steel 310 and 310S are vital parts of many industrial applications, particularly those that require corrosion resistance and high temperatures. Because they are composed of alloyed stainless steel, both kinds of flanges function better in harsh environments. Stainless Steel 310 is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel that is designed to withstand high temperatures. Its 20% nickel and 25% chromium content increases its resistance to corrosion and oxidation at high temperatures. Because of this, 310 flanges are perfect for high-temperature applications including heat exchangers, furnace parts, and other settings where resistance to oxidation and scaling is needed.
The 310 grade is available in low-carbon form as stainless steel 310S. Since there is less carbon in the mixture, there is less chance of carbide precipitating during welding, which could otherwise result in decreased corrosion resistance. Because of this, 310S flanges are the recommended option for high-temperature applications involving welding. Better weldability is provided by the 310S flanges, which retain the same high-temperature characteristics of the 310.
