High-performance alloys like stainless steel 347 and 347H are made especially to withstand high temperatures and oxidation, which makes them appropriate for demanding applications. These grades are mostly utilized in corrosive situations with high temperatures, including those found in the power generation, chemical processing, and aerospace sectors. Austenitic stainless steel stabilized with columbium (niobium) and having exceptional resistance to intergranular corrosion, particularly between 800-1500°F (427–816°C), is known as stainless steel 347. Additionally, it has strong mechanical qualities and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. It is therefore perfect for use in exhaust systems, reactors, and heat exchangers.
A higher carbon version of 347, stainless steel 347H offers greater strength at higher temperatures. Because 347H has more carbon, it has better tensile strength and creep resistance, which makes it appropriate for more demanding applications requiring higher mechanical qualities.
