A high-carbon variation of stainless steel grade 347 is used to create the specialist fasteners known as stainless steel 347H fasteners. This alloy's improved resistance to oxidation and corrosion makes it especially well-suited for high-temperature applications. Compared to other stainless steel grades, stainless steel 347H has greater strength and stability at high temperatures since it contains chromium, nickel, and niobium. Niobium is added to the alloy to maintain its carbon content and prevent chromium carbides from forming, which could otherwise weaken the alloy's resistance to corrosion. Because of this, 347H fasteners are perfect for usage in places like power plants, petrochemical refineries, and aerospace applications where there are strong chemicals and high temperatures.
Because this grade contains more carbon than the regular 347, as indicated by the "H" in 347H, it is stronger at high temperatures. Because of this, 347H fasteners work especially well in situations requiring both great strength and resilience to high temperatures. Up to almost 1600°F (870°C), they retain their exceptional mechanical qualities and stability, guaranteeing dependable performance even in the most difficult circumstances.
