High-performance nickel-chromium-iron alloy Hastelloy X is made for uses where superior resistance to oxidation and corrosion at elevated temperatures is required. Hastelloy X, renowned for its remarkable strength and ability to withstand thermal fatigue, finds widespread application in high-temperature settings such as gas turbines and jet engines. Nickel (around 47–50%), chromium (20–22%), and iron (17–20%) make up the majority of hastelloy X, with trace amounts of molybdenum, tungsten, and other metals. Its composition provides strong resistance against carburization and oxidation, especially in temperature-variable situations. The alloy is appropriate for components subjected to high heat and stress since it retains its mechanical strength at temperatures as high as 2200°F (1204°C).
