Popular stainless steel grades S31803 and S32205, noted for their exceptional mechanical qualities and corrosion resistance, are known as Duplex Steel. Numerous demanding industries, including the oil and gas, chemical processing, and marine sectors, use these duplex steels. Ferritic and austenitic stainless steel properties are combined in the versatile grade S31803 of duplex steel. With great strength and endurance, it provides outstanding resistance to corrosion, especially against stress corrosion cracking and pitting. About 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum make up the material's makeup, which helps explain why it performs so well in harsh conditions.
An improved version of S31803, Duplex Steel S32205 has better qualities. It contains roughly 4% molybdenum, 7% nickel, and 25% chromium. Compared to S31803, S32205 has a stronger tensile strength and a better resistance to localized corrosion because of its composition. It works very well against sulfides and chlorides, which makes it appropriate for usage in abrasive conditions like seawater or chemical processing.
