High-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy Hastelloy C276 is well-known for its exceptional resistance to a wide range of corrosive conditions. This alloy is very useful in industrial settings where extreme oxidation and corrosion are issues. Hastelloy C276 tubes are indispensable in many demanding operations due to their key properties. The main elements of hastelloy C276 are molybdenum (15–17%), chromium (14–16%), and nickel (around 57%). Its strong resistance to different types of corrosion is also attributed to its lesser concentrations of tungsten and iron. These components work together to improve the alloy's resistance to stress-corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion.
The alloy is perfect for usage in aggressive chemical settings due to its exceptional resistance to both oxidizing and non-oxidizing acids, such as sulfuric and hydrochloric acids. Hastelloy C276 is appropriate for use in cryogenic as well as high-temperature applications since it can tolerate high temperatures up to 1000°C (1832°F) without losing strength or resistance.
