Molybdenum added to stainless steel 316Ti increases its resistance to corrosion caused by chlorides, which makes it perfect for use in chemical processing and maritime situations. By stabilizing the carbon concentration, titanium ensures that the material retains its strength and corrosion resistance at high temperatures and prevents carbide precipitation during welding. About 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2-3% molybdenum, and up to 0.7% titanium make up this alloy's usual makeup.
