A high-carbon version of the 347 grade stainless steel intended for use in high-temperature applications is called stainless steel 347H. The 347H alloy is superior to the regular 347 stainless steel in terms of strength and resistance to oxidation, which makes it perfect for applications involving high temperatures and corrosive conditions. The main constituents of this alloy are iron, nickel, and chromium (up to 19%), with niobium and tantalum added to stabilize the carbon concentration and avoid carbide precipitation. This stabilization is especially helpful between 800 and 1500°F (427 and 816°C) in terms of maintaining structural integrity and resistance to intergranular corrosion.
Stainless Steel 347H is frequently utilized in round bar form for a variety of industrial applications, such as power generating, chemical processing, and aircraft.
