Stainless Steel 310 has a composition of about 25% chromium and 20% nickel, making it suitable for high-temperature applications. The high chromium concentration of this alloy improves its resistance to corrosion and oxidation at high temperatures. As a result, 310 tubes are perfect for use in heat exchangers, furnace parts, and chemical processing machinery.
Stainless Steel 310S is a lower-carbon version of 310, with a maximum carbon content of 0.08%. This reduced carbon content improves its weldability and toughness, making it a better choice for applications where welding is required. 310S maintains similar properties to 310 in terms of heat resistance and corrosion resistance but is more suited for applications where high-temperature strength and resistance to oxidation are critical, such as in flue gas stacks and high-temperature processing equipment.
